finding the time

I am hoping to get upstairs tonight to add some pictures from Easter - I think the holiday was a great success. Let's see we had Oskar getting up too early before I could hide the eggs, Truman then getting the eggs once I had them hid, Mike telling me that I was taking the magic out of Easter since I did not have the eggs hid and needed to lie to Oskar in order to hide them, Truman getting out of the backyard and once massive breakdown when I told Oskar he could not have the hose any longer. Yep...think that about covers it. Mom  and Dad got me a beautiful plant stand and two planters for my birthday so that was great Oskar loves his human body model and I think likes the microscope and Hanky loves the push toy. Easter candy has been working well as a disciplinary tool and now on to Hank's 1st birthday... Show be a  fun and interesting week!

No baby book for you Hank!

I know that a lot of parents feel guilty about this, so where as I feel guilty, I won't feel too bad. I never kept up on your baby book Oskar and Hank, I never even found one for you. So let this stand as your baby book and I can get this post-it off my desk. See I love you enough to keep track of the dates, just not enough to buy a book. ;)

walking? school? cheese...

Hank, you finally started taking some steps today holding on to Dad's hands! Yeah for you!
Oskar we found out that you got accepted to school. We are so excited but I have to admit and your dad may not like me saying this but we both cried. It is so hard to explain how proud and how sad you can be at the same time. So you are gonna be a big boy in your first year of Kindergarten in September at Gretchko Elementary! Very excited for you!!!
Last night you both were a pain to put down. After Grandma finally got you down Hank, I needed to go back into Oskar's room. and of course Oskar, you wanted a Suh knack (snack). You wanted something with cheese. But not a cheese tortilla (shaking your jazz hands back and forth) and not cheese crackers but...cheese...cheese...cheese sandwich! Yeah! Cheese sandwich. You and your jazz hands crack me up and you always cock your head to the side when you are making someone wait to hear what you are thinking.

As always I adore you both! You both make me laugh up a storm!

Birthday Preparations

Well Hanky - I pretty much finished your amigurumi cupcake last night that I am gonna give you for your birthday. Your brother loved it when I showed it to him, you...not so much! Ah well, maybe you guys will appreciate the homemade stuff when your older!

So we are doing a lion theme for your birthday since you seem to like them. It is always fun to go back and remember what you guys were into. I am gonna give a go to making your cake - at least your too little to care but for reference it is supposed to be a lion if it doesn't come out right!

This morning when I got you out of your crib and I changed you I started tickling your butt with the diaper - you were laughing up a storm! It was great - I sure hated leaving you both this morning.

Oskar, you and I went upstairs to my room and we were playing with legos - you made a "sculpture" which was two sets of wheels connected with another lego - sculpture indeed. You crack me up kiddos!

Hanging with the ladies and Brent!

So yesterday we had a play date with Michelle and her three kids - two twin girls, Aubrey and Annabelle who are Hank's age and a Brent who is Oskar's age. We had so much fun. Hank and the girls chewed their way through most of our toys and Oskar and Brent hung out is Oskar's room. After we went to ToysRUs to pick up the last of Hank's gifts for his birthday. I still can't believe that he is gonna be one on the 30th! Seems like I was just in the hospital having him. May I also remind you that it was the day that Oskar decided that he would pee in the potty from now on. All in all a great day for the Narlocks! Hank is loving patty cake so much right now that we were playing patty cake all the way home and Oskar counted with me 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49 and 40 ten. Cracks me up. I can't seem to get Oskar to understand that it goes 49, 50.
Oskar and I were talking about things that live in the deep sea and I mentioned octopuses and he said they spray ink so I told him why they spray ink and he said, Hey, that's pretty smart  and I thought so are you kid! Oskar is so much fun to have conversations with. On the way home from preschool, I asked him about a bruise on his face. He said that he got it becuase he keeps getting bigger and I said, I know and that makes Momma sad. He asked me why and I told him that it means one day you will grow up and move away and have your own family. He told me that he would move right next door to us and his kids would be named Chip and Dale, Micky, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and oh yeah, Daffy. Do you sense a theme here?

For Rabbit and Hankenstein

This is my attempt to give the two most wonderfullest boys in the whole wide world a record of what it our life was like when you guys were young. I would love to have a record of what your grandparents thought of me or your dad while we were growing up, what our lives were like, funny things we said, things they were interested in, that kind of thing so....now you know.  I also wanted to keep a record of our everyday life, I guess mostly my thoughts and feeling since I am the one writing this.  Many things have changed in the past 5 years and it will be great to look back on all of the things that make our life what it is, which I think is pretty darn good! This has been inspired by a change that I would like to make in myself and I hope carries on to you both. I would like all of us to be more mindful and really start to appreciate and cherish the small things -
